Description
These promethazine tablets can be used to treat the following conditions: to treat allergic conditions, such as hay fever or rashes (like nettle rash or hives); to treat or prevent you feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting), such as in travel sickness; for short term use to treat adults with difficulty sleeping (insomnia); and for short term use as a sedative for children aged 5 years and above.
- Suitable for adults and children over 5 years.
- This should not be taken 2 weeks before birth and you should not take Promethazine if you are breast-feeding.
- You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days.
DO NOT USE
- if the person taking this medicine is under 5 years of age
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to promethazine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
- if you are taking a medicine for depression called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI)
- if you have stopped taking one of these MAOI medicines within the last 14 days (See “Other medicines and Promethazine” section below)
- if the person taking this medicine is unconscious (in a coma) or suffers from severe dizziness, drowsiness or headache
- alongside alcohol as it can affect how the medicine works
- any tools or machines or drive if you start to feel drowsy after taking this medicine
- for longer than 7 days
- a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
- after the expiry date, which is stated on the carton and blister packs (the expiry date refers to the last day of that month)
