Description
These capsules contain loperamide hydrochloride, a substance that helps reduce diarrhoea by slowing down an overactive bowel.
- Do not give this medicine to children below the age of 12 years
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
- You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 48 hours
DO NOT USE
- if you have ever had a bad allergic reaction to loperamide or to any of the other ingredients (listed in section 6)
- if you have severe diarrhoea after taking antibiotics
- if it is for a child aged under 12 (or under 18 for an IBS patient)
- if you are having a flare-up of an inflammatory bowel condition like ulcerative colitis
- if you are constipated, or your stomach appears swollen (especially in children with severe hydration)
- if you have acute dysentery, the symptoms of which may include blood in your stools and a high temperature
- if you are breast-feeding
- for IBS if you are under 18 years
- more than 8 capsules in 24 hours
- more than the recommended doses
