Description
These tablets are used for the treatment and prevention of iron deffiency
- Do not give to children under the age of 6 years
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
DO NOT USE
- if you are allergic to ferrous gluconate, medicines containing iron or any of the other ingredients in this medicine (see patient leaflet)
- if you have a build-up of too much iron in the body (haemochromatosis)
- if you suffer from iron storage (haemosiderosis) or absorption (haemoglobinuria)
- if you have anaemia not caused by iron defiency
- if you receive regular blood transfusions or iron by IV infusion (drip)
- if you have an ulcer of the stomach or small intestine
- if you have hepatitis (inflammation of the liver)
- if you suffer from alcoholism
- antibiotics (used to treat bacterial infections) for two hours before and after taking ferrous gluconate 300mg Tablets
- antacids (used to treat indigestion) and mineral suppletments (e.g. calcium magnesium, carbonates, bicarbonates, oxalates, or phosphates) for two hours before and after taking ferrous gluconate 300mg Tablets
- trientine (used to treat conditions of too much copper in the body e.g. Wilson's disease) for two hours before and after taking ferrous gluconate 300mg Tablets
- thyroxine (a thyroid hormone) for two hours before and after taking ferrous gluconate 300mg Tablets
- biphosphonates (used in the treatment of bone disease e.g. osteoporosis) for two hours before and after taking ferrous gluconate 300mg Tablets
- more than the recommended dose
- a double dose to to make up for a forgotten dose
- this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack (the expiry is the last day of the stated month)
